Chief Meteorologist Erin Yost joined Montana’s News Station in June 2010 after working at Beartooth NBC in Helena as the Chief Forecaster for more than 2½ years.
Being a Minnesota native, Erin loves snow – but had nowhere to ski! So, while visiting a friend in Missoula back in 2003, she decided Montana would be the next place she’d call home!
At the University of Montana she majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Communications. Erin earned two Regional Student Emmys for her contribution to her school’s Montana PBS news piece (Business: Made In Montana) and college news program (UM News). Erin was also named “runner up” for the 2008, 2015 and 2017 Montana Broadcasters Association’s Montana “Weathercaster of the Year” and was awarded the same title in 2009, 2016 and 2018. Erin graduated with a broadcast meteorology degree from Mississippi State University the summer of 2012.
Erin & her husband, Matt, have a son (Wade) and daughter (Bryn). When not spending time with family, she loves to ski and anything to do with winter… anything to do with the great outdoors for that matter! She also likes volunteering with local animal shelters/organizations as a foster… she has a “zoo” of her own, too… cats Tippet, Bowman & Seeley and dogs Knut, Agnes and Brick keep things busy at home!
